Customer Evaluations

We bought this oven on-line. So far, we've toasted bagels, created frozen pizza and baked potatoes in it. They've all come out best. Manage panel is super uncomplicated to use, and the oven is hassle-free to clean with teflon lining. Make confident this is what you want, even though. Only a limited quantity of toaster settings (Light, Med. Light, Medium, Med. Dark, Dark) are readily available - none in amongst. There are no dials. Also, Only oven temperatures like this are accessible (... 275, 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425 ...) - none in in between. You can not bake anything at 385 degrees - only 375 or 400 degrees. Also, it really is a small slow to preheat. But all in all, we love it.

I am writing this assessment about 6 mos just after acquiring this unit from Amazon. It was an good toaster and oven nevertheless, it was a slow, inefficient broiler (hot dogs took about 10 minutes to cook). What prompted my writing the evaluation right now was the spontaneous shattering of the door glass whereas toasting bread. There had been no trauma to the door. I notice a single other reviewer had a equivalent knowledge. I am somewhat relieved that glass shattered into tiny pieces as auto glass does, but it exploded outward, and I am honestly glad my daughter for whom the counter is at eye level was not standing nearby when it did.
I phoned the manufacturer to report what had happened, and the Hamilton Beach representative indicated that the glass-door-shattering challenge is a recognized issue with some of these units. They want to examine the unit at their facility and will spend for the shipping. The remedy: they supplied to send me a replacement when they get the original. Stated the call center rep: "I cant' in great faith say that it won't occur again" but in the collective encounter of all call center staff, they'd not heard of a recurrence in replacement toasters. Then she stated "There is a 99% chance that it won't take place again". A 1% recurrence probability feels fairly risky to me. I am surprised that HB would accept such a high (re)failure danger, and I wonder if the probability estimate is in fact based on data. I asked for a refund, but she mentioned that was not achievable. The return period at Amazon has closed. I doubt I will use the replacement.
UPDATE FEB 2012
My wife wanted to use the replacement, so we kept it. She's convinced me to accept the business line that a single batch of glass for the oven doors was bad and they've replaced it with far better stuff. So far so very good. As before, toasting is fairly very good but broiling slow. We do not honestly bake in it.
