Consumer Evaluations
I spent A LOT of time searching for a toaster/convection oven that would toast, bake, and did NOT have non-stick interior. There are rather handful of models that do not have the non-stick. I ended up getting to call Black Decker and get transferred around a bit in order to uncover out if it had the non-stick or not, mainly because it did not say anywhere. The investigation division ended up calling me back and informing me that BD has completed away with non-stick interiors in their toaster/convection ovens! YAY! We have been making use of this for a couple weeks now and Enjoy it. We haven't touched our microwave due to the fact getting it. What we really like about it:
- Stainless steel interior exterior (no non-stick coating)
- Comes with drip tray for broiling, and readily removable crumb tray (removes from the front)
- Straight forward bell when timer is up (I have heard of models creating horrible extended buzzing - not this 1)
- I love that it is knobs instead of digital - it's faster and less complicated to use
- Particularly self-explanatory use
- We ran it for 20 minutes right after getting it set-up per instructions and there was no smoke or odor
- Roomy interior can hold a lot
- Not a substantial footprint on our counter - smaller than our microwave!
- Comes with a booklet that has data on cooking times/temps (which is fantastic if you are new to convection ovens)
Overall, we are thrilled with our buy and have suggested it to a number of other individuals. Even though there is no interior light, we have in no way had a predicament seeing what is inside. This is quite possibly the most inexpensive convection oven you can get with out the non-stick interior, but it does a outstanding job.
UPDATE: Just toasted some bread for the initial time. It toasted evenly on each sides, and I was in a position to see the shade through the door. Strategies for toasting: 1. Put rack in lower position to be much more centered in between heating components two. Don't have the broiling pan in the oven or the bottom won't toast 3. Spot bread centrally on rack for even toasting
UPDATE two: We have been applying this convection oven for virtually three months now. We sold our microwave and use this all the time! We have reheated pizza, stews, pasta, veggies toasted bagels and bread baked chicken, tater tots, and Morningstar ribs broiled the most amazing garlic bread final night! We have had no difficulties whatsoever and we use it at least twice a day daily for various purposes. We heat most things using pyrex and have not had an concern with the pyrex when using it in the convection oven. We can fit enough containers to re-heat two meals, a side, and a little meal for our toddler all at the exact same time. I hope this continues to perform so properly for a lengthy time to come...so far, so excellent!
I genuinely like this BD convection toaster oven. 1st of all, it feels appears to be fairly well-made. The knobs have that "quality" really feel when turning them, rather than feeling like they are going to break off in your hand. Second, it is attractive in our kitchen. Third, thanks to its convection baking, it bakes my "biscuits from a can" perfectly! This was a huge challenge with my 20 year old, no-name toaster oven that was not convection. It did a horrible job baking - in reality, I no longer implemented it to bake only to toast sliced bread or bagels or to broil. This oven, on the other hand, evenly bakes my biscuits beautifully. It toasts sliced bread, bagels English muffins incredibly capably, also, but, like pretty a lot any toaster oven, it is slower to get them all nice toasty compared to a slot-loading toaster, because of the increased distance from the heat coil. Broiling works properly, too.
I only have two faults with this toaster oven (hence my rating of four as an alternative of five stars). One, the back of the oven (which is curved due to the curved interior that accommodates a pizza) gets Fairly HOT when the oven is in use. Like, burn your fingers hot. There is a 1" extended rubber "bumper" sticking out of the back at the peak of the curve to preserve it away from a wall. We have ours on a small hightop table / wine rack that sits against a wallpapered wall, and the 1" of clearance is enough to stop damage to the wall (sa far), but it seems to me the manufacturer could have insulated the back a small bit to maintain it from getting so sizzling hot. Because we have it in an out of the way spot such that we do not have to move it about on a countertop potentially burn ourselves, it is not a significant issue for us. Just be cautious!
Second, at this oven's mid-range value, I expected it to come with a decent baking pan w/ a matching broiling rack (like countless other toaster ovens), maybe even a pizza pan as nicely, but it didn't. All it came with was a flimsy aluminum pan (w/ no matching broiling rack to fit on best of it) that I suppose is intended to be multi-goal. You can bake on it (it is about 1" deep) on top of the oven's rack, and that works fine. And, based on the reality that this flimsy pan slides into a pair of wire holders beneath the oven's rack, I suppose the manufacturer intends for the user to broil items directly on the oven's wire middle rack, making use of this pan hanging underneath to catch the grease drippings. Sorry, but I did not want to get the oven rack itself dirty have to clean it (or have it smoke the next time I implemented the oven), so I bought a nice, 10" x ten" enameled broiling pan rack (they fit in this oven readily) elsewhere use it in lieu of the flimsy aluminum pan that came with the oven.
In spite of these minor "flaws", I am especially happy with this toaster oven would advocate it extremely...
