Buyer Critiques
We are a husband - wife household and rely on toaster oven for: daily toast, weekly frozen pizza cooking, reheating of grilled products, crisping up french baguettes, pastries, and so on.
This appliance does an wonderful job. Controls are intuitive, temperature manage is rather accurate (checked with oven thermometer beyond 400 degrees) and convection feature adds to fantastic uniformity. It gets to temperature very quickly as effectively. The criticism other individuals have stated about the front handle-to-glass spacing, major to burns may well be relevant to their use, but is a NON Concern if you basically use your fingers to open (which is very simple and easy) versus wrapping your whole hand about the deal with. Build quality and the overall user knowledge is absolutely superior.
We've had our Cuisinart for only a couple of months so far, so a bit way more to learn about its durability.
To contrast, we replaced a fundamental Black Decker toaster oven (roughly $30 dollars retail) which worked OK (esp. for toast) if you watched it very carefully and it served us properly for 3+ years. Previously we had a Krups F286/FBB2 (retail $200) which worked nicely, but was a complete disappointment when its manage membranes cracked just slightly beyond the warranty period and no practical consumer help was out there. So for just above $100, the Cuisinart looks like a house-run for characteristics, excellent and worth.
Finally, a tip: go to House Depot or a floor tile shop and pickup a 12 x 12 inch unglazed terracotta paver for about $1. Functions excellent as a pizza stone to generate crispy crusts and is far much less than the $ten-20 retail 'pizza stones'.
We recently replaced our 1993 Black Decker toaster oven (which was awesome, by the way) with the Cuisinart convection/toaster oven so that we could toast bread as well as take benefit of the convection oven characteristics. The oven is a tiny noisier than I'm implemented to, but that's due to the convection fan. It is definitely not that poor. Toasting takes a small longer than with the other toaster oven, but appears to toast as evenly as a normal toaster oven.
So far, I've made use of it to make toast, a cake (from scratch), ladyfinger cookies, a casserole and two roasted four.five pound chickens in the oven. I used a square brownie pan for the cake and casserole.
The oven can fit about 8 cookies per sheet, depending on the size of the cookies, so you end up with way more batches, but it takes much less time to bake them in convection mode. The chickens took around 1 hour 15 minutes each and every. The Cuisinart herbed chicken recipe worked well, and the chicken did not blacken on leading. My hoisin chicken recipe worked properly, as well, but I had to cover the prime with tin foil to stop burning.
The only issues I have with the design are the timer and the baking rack/tray integration. The rack and baking sheet/tray are so well integrated that it is hard to remove the tray with oven mitts without the need of taking the rack out as well. This is not a massive deal, but is not hassle-free when you have batches of cookies to make and need the rack in location for speedy turnaround time. The timer does not quit the oven, which is OK, but as soon as you switch off baking, you can not use the timer as a kitchen timer. Given that the clock runs whilst the oven is plugged in, you'd believe they would let you to set the timer as effectively. A timer would be handy if you have anything that you want to keep or location in the oven for a when (such as rising dough).
